The FIT FOR KIDS project, that intends to fight children and youngsters obesity and sedentarism for free, already has the first local volunteers ready to go for the next steps.

From the 30th of September till the 2nd of October, in Casa da Juventude de Amarante, after an open call to all Amarantinos, the first group of local volunteers – Filipa Pereira, Marcelo Silva, Mónica Silva, Linda Freitas and Luís Ribeiro – received the needed training about physical exercise and nutritional advices, in order to go for next step of FIT FOR KIDS project.

This training counted also with volunteers from Denmark (where the project was born) and Italy (second country to implement the initiative) and was leaded by the Portuguese trainers Tânia Pereira and Marcella Serra, from Aventura Marão Clube, and Sara Bastos, Nutritionist from the Municipality of Amarante. To be able to do it, they acquired their training and knowledge in Copenhagen and Turin, through the founders of FIT FOR KIDS.

This project, financed the Erasmus+ program of the European Union, intends to fight children and youngsters obesity and sedentarism, in times in which about 30% of our kids presents signs and chances of becoming obese or already are. On the countries where FIT FOR KIDS is already implementes, there has been very positive results, which makes the participants wanting more and more,

Amarante will be for sure one more successful case!
